THE community gathered to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the John Pounds Centre in Portsea.

It has been working in the heart of the city helping to look after people.

Matt Mason, manager for the centre, said: ‘I’ve been here since the beginning.

‘We’ve been blessed with a fantastic facility here but it’s only the people who come that make it work.’

Within the centre, there is a host of facilities for every person who walks through the door.

Deputy Lord Mayor, Ken Ellcome, said: ‘It’s an amazing place that has grown to incorporate a lot of different areas that are useful for the community – the gym, the doctors the dentists and all the other bits and pieces. There’s just so much. Here’s to the next 10 years.’
