URGENT and costly repairs to an old church are being helped along by a fundraising jumble sale.

St John’s Church in London Road, Purbrook, has been serving the community for more than 150 years.

But the Grade II-listed building requires many urgent and expensive repairs.

Churchgoer Pat Wootten said: ‘We hold many fundraising events during the year. Our main events being our summer and Christmas fetes.

‘But the first one this year is a grand jumble sale on Saturday, January 31, in the Church Hall from 11am until 2pm.’
