MIKE Jones was able to celebrate his 60th birthday with a tandem skydive after winning a competition that makes dreams come true.

Anyone over 50 can apply to the Stannah Think Again Fund and one person is picked at random each month to fulfil their dream.

Mike, a training consultant and former naval sailor from Stubbington, said doing a skydive had been a life-long ambition.

He added: ‘I’ve never been an adrenaline junkie and Alton Towers has completely passed me by, so perhaps the attraction had more to do with space and freedom coupled with “I wonder what that feels like?” The approach of my 60th birthday was the catalyst to do something about it, so the opportunity to do a skydive, courtesy of Stannah, was a brilliant surprise.’
