STAFF from supermarkets have given a charity a big boost.

Asda workers have rewarded volunteers from Kids South East by handing over a cheque of £1,000.

Community life champions Tracy Smith and Sharon Noble, from Portsmouth and Fareham respectively, met charity representatives last week to present the money and thank them for the hard work that they do.

The donation follows a recent community search to find the region’s most worthy causes.

The competition was whittled down to a short list of five nominees before locals voted to crown Kids South East their favourite.

The Fareham-based charity works with disabled children, young people and their families.

Sharon Noble, Community Life Champion at Asda Fareham said: ‘We’re delighted to be able to hand over such a substantial amount of money to the charity. The work they do in our region is fantastic and we hope they enjoy putting the money to good use.’
