GRANTS are being offered to owners of empty properties to tackle the housing shortage.

Chichester District Council’s new Homefinder Property Management Service is an in-house lettings agency for private sector landlords in the area.

The service can provide a guaranteed monthly income to landlords, while helping people who desperately need homes.

Grants are available to bring homes up to habitable conditions. There is help finding tenants as long as landlords accept housing benefit tenants. There are currently 4,500 people on the housing list.

For details call 01243 534734 or go to chichester.gov.uk/homefinder.
