A LABOUR of love has turned into a new year honour for Jennifer Jones.
She has been awarded an OBE for services to the community of Bognor Regis.
She and her husband Barry spent their own time and money transforming the old United Reformed Church in the town into a new community arts centre.
They bought the building, which had been empty for two years, in July.
It was a real leap of faith for the pair, because they were hoping the church venue, which came with four different-sized halls, would once again become a vibrant and thriving community centre for the town.
Their faith has paid off, because that’s just what it has become.
But not satisfied with providing the town with a new hub, the couple brought the International Bognor Birdman competition back to the town and transformed the former Berkeley Arms pub in West Street into Bognor’s museum.
