PEOPLE are being encouraged to pick up an instrument and learn to play.

Musicroom, in Commercial Road, Portsmouth, will be joining forces with musicians across the country in a bid to inspire people on Saturday with free music taster lessons.

Store manager David Courtney said: ‘We look forward to Learn To Play Day and can’t wait to throw open our doors and invite people in to pick up an instrument and give music making a go.

‘It doesn’t matter if they’ve never even held an instrument before – that’s all part of the fun.

‘The event gives people the chance to get a taste of the instruments they have always wanted to play and it’s all free of charge.’

There will be a variety of instruments available to play at the Portsmouth store, with tutorials primarily focusing on the guitar, violin, ukulele and a samba band workshop.

The event has been running for the past four years and aims to get people interested in playing an instrument.

Lessons take place between 10.30am and 4pm and can be booked in advance.
