A PLAY area has been refurbished just in time for next week’s half-term.

The Pirates Cove playground on the seafront at Lee-on-the-Solent has been improved by Gosport Borough Council, making it safer and more secure for families all year round.

All the timber decking of the play area, next to Waterfront Brasserie on Marine Parade West, and the fencing was replaced and the equipment was repainted.

Councillor Graham Burgess, chairman of the council’s community board, said: ‘There is nothing quite like wrapping up warm on an autumnal or even winter morning for a bracing walk along the seafront.

‘Summer or winter you will see families visiting the Pirates Cove play area with their children and grandchildren, all having a great time.

‘We are delighted to see them visiting the park where they can enjoy not just the facilities, but the fresh air and the all-important exercise, while having lots of fun.’
