VOLUNTEERS are needed to ensure an estate’s carnival is bigger and better than ever next year.

Leigh Park Carnival had to be cancelled this year because of the dreadful weather.

Now the organising committee are looking ahead to next year’s event which they hope will go ahead as planned on Stockheath Common.

Councillor Faith Ponsonby, ‘There may be other events too during the week beforehand.

‘But we cannot do this without the help of the people in the community coming on board to help plan for this to happen.

‘If there is anyone who thinks they can contribute in any way, however small, come along to the Hub cafe, in Park Parade, at midday on Friday, September 26 when the small festival committee will be reviewing the festival events this year and putting together the team to work on events for next year.

‘Please help the carnival to carry on.’

Anyone who would like to be involved but cannot make the meeting should give Cllr Ponsonby a call on 01243 372825.
