Letter of the Day: Why doesn’t everyone read the signs?

Have your say

As a fairly regular swimmer at the Mountbatten Centre, one thing constantly seems to occur which is most noticeable to my friends and myself.

Before entering the swimming area, there is a seating area, and large notices asking swimmers to please remove outdoor shoes before entering the area containing the changing cubicles and the showers.

When pupils from Portsmouth Grammar School attend, the teachers and all children remove their shoes before proceeding toward the changing rooms. They are often followed by teachers and pupils from other schools who walk straight on without apparently seeing or reading the notices.

I have no connection with any schools, but do find it disappointing that standards are so poor in so many schools with both reading and teaching skills, and commend Portsmouth Grammar School for its higher standards.
