Formula One world champion and fans’ favourite Lewis Hamilton will not be coming to the Goodwood Festival Of Speed next week.

The Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 team has announced that its driver line-up for the event near Chichester from June 25-28 will include Hamilton’s team-mate Nico Rosberg and World Endurance Champion Anthony Davidson.

Hamilton has been a regular at the festival ever since he made his debut in F1 in 2007 and has revealed how he used to come and watch with his father as paying customers before he was famous.

No reason has been given for his absence, but fans will be disappointed that they won’t get to see him at Goodwood ahead of the British Grand Prix on July 5.

Other motor racing stars set to appear include Kimi Raikkonen, Felipe Massa, Damon Hill, John Surtees, Sir Jackie Stwewart, Sir Stirling Moss and Derek Bell, plus motorbike legend Valentino Rossi.
