THE sun, sea and buzzing nightlife of Marbella has not stopped Lina Hodgkins remembering her roots.

The 54-year-old has been living in the sunny Spanish beach resort since 2004, but still has a soft spot for her home town of Portsmouth.

Lina loves nothing more than taking a break from her job as owner of several bars and restaurants and returning to the city to relax with her family and friends.

The businesswoman, who runs the Linekers group in Puerto Banus, will be showing off her lifestyle on the ITVBe programme Life on Marbs.

The show, which airs on Wednesdays at 9pm, is a reality series about people living luxuriously in Marbella – a holiday destination made more popular by the cast of The Only Way Is Essex.

Lina said: ‘Although I love living in Marbella, I still come back to Portsmouth every six months to see my family and friends.

‘I love it here and despite it being totally different to Marbella, I enjoy coming home.

‘I am proud to be from Portsmouth.’

Lina moved to Marbella after spending time there on holiday.

She decided to take a break from working in the lingerie sector and went to Marbella.

I love it here and despite it being totally different to Marbella, I enjoy coming home.

She added: ‘After being there once, I couldn’t wait to go back. I used to go back there on holiday quite a lot.

‘I loved it so much I decided to take a six-month break from work and go and live out there.

‘That was 11 years ago.’

Lina grew up with her older sister and two younger brothers in Burnham Road, Farlington, and when she visits she swaps her party lifestyle for quiet family days out.

‘I organise hen dos and stag dos as part of my job, so my life can be hectic,’ she said.

‘So when in Portsmouth I like to take it easy. Portsmouth and Marbella are so different and my life is different when I am in either place – I could probably only name one bar in Portsmouth!

‘I try to come back as much as I can and it is really handy having Southampton Airport so near.’

Lina, who is often referred to as ‘Mummy Marbella’ in the programme by other members of the cast, said the show was exciting to do and showed the fun side of Marbella.
