SINGERS from the Urban Vocal Group are set to perform a headlining show at Portsmouth’s Wedgewood Rooms.

The group provides free musical tuition to youngsters aged 11 to 18 from across Portsmouth and Havant. Last year’s Christmas concert was a huge success and this year’s is set to be even better.

Director Charlie Fletcher said: ‘Last year’s show was a fantastic opportunity for us and this year we have pulled out all the stops with contemporary arrangements by a variety of artists, a live house band, a string section and original material written and performed by UVG members.

‘We believe that all young people should have the opportunity to participate in quality music regardless of their socio-economic situation and our success demonstrates the need to provide free access to a singing group which delivers contemporary repertoire in a friendly environment and offers professional support.’

The show is on December 2 from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. Tickets cost £8 and all profits will go towards keeping the group’s activities free.
