That was the message from Kieran Lane (pictured), who has signed up for the 26-mile race to raise money for Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham.

The 42-year-old, from Havant, has been training for more than a year for the challenge tomorrow.

He said: ‘I am little bit nervous but also excited. I am looking forward to it.

‘It is my first marathon and although I have done two half-marathons, they were a few years ago.

‘Taking part is something I’ve wanted to do for a while - I have been told the atmosphere and experience is superb.’

Kieran is hoping the atmosphere and the crowd will get him over the finish line as the furthest he has run is 17 miles.

He hopes to complete the race between four and five hours.

Kieran is raising money for the breast cancer section of QA Hospital. His mum beat breast cancer 20 years ago but it is thought to have returned so it is a cause close to his heart.

He added: ‘When I was thinking about who to raise money for, I knew I wanted to do it for a local cause.

‘I thought it would be nice to do something for the family.’
