DREAMS came true for Paula Wheeler when she was invited on stage by her idol Michael Buble in front of 10,000 people.
The lucky 43-year-old was the envy of thousands when she was picked out from the crowd to dance to Fly Me To The Moon with singer Michael at a concert at the MEN Arena in Manchester.
Paula, from Stubbington, had gone to the show with her 19-year-old daughter Jessica, her brother Colin Greig and his wife Nadine, from Tangmere.
Paula, a florist, said: ‘I was very lucky. I’ve liked him for as long as he’s been out. He’s such a gentleman, he’s so nice. It was just meant to be.’
The foursome had been to see Michael before at the same venue earlier in the week and they enjoyed it so much they booked again for the next night – Michael’s last performance there – and by chance the only tickets left were in the front row.
Colin, 37, said: ‘When we got to our seats, we couldn’t believe where we were sitting. Michael was on top form.
‘He came down to the railing right by us where Paula managed to get a selfie with him. She was on top of the world.’
After Paula’s selfie moment, a fellow fan got up to dance in the aisle and Paula joined him. When Michael spotted the pair, he invited them up to the stage.
When she got on stage, she was ‘a little bit shell shocked’ but decided to go with the flow and get into the groove.
‘Everyone was screaming,’ she said. ‘But he put my mind at rest straight away, I thought “I’ll never get this chance again” and went for it.’
Her brother Colin captured the whole thing on video. ‘It makes me smile every time I watch it,’ said Paula.
Paula was on stage with a stranger and said she felt bad as she was so star-struck, she hardly even noticed him.
She managed to get ‘five kisses and a bum squeeze’ from Michael and said she was accosted by jealous fans wanting to talk to her afterwards.
Paula said she was so impressed she would be going to see him again and she’s now considering flying to Canada to see him in his home country.
