THE wartime mentality of ‘make do and mend’ will be rekindled with a free fashion workshop.

Havant craft charity Making Space has teamed
up with the D-Day Museum,
in Southsea, to offer free
taster sessions in
Gosport.

The project focuses on the Overlord Embroidery that is on permanent display at the D-Day Museum.

The free workshops are open to all, and textile artist June Allnut is keen to involve all local residents, particularly those in the armed forces community in and around Gosport.

Participants are invited
to explore the idea of
creating fashion by reworking textiles.

June said: ‘We hope it will evoke a sense of time and reference of the period, taking something old and forgotten and transforming it into something wearable and loved.’

The next session is on Saturday at Gosport Discovery Centre from
10am until midday and 1pm to 3pm.
