A kind-hearted man is starting a 500-mile walk from Portsmouth tomorrow to help a two-year-old boy with cancer.

Kai Laidlaw was diagnosed with infant acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) in September 2013 when he was eight months old.

Kai has had a bone marrow transplant but is now fighting cancer for the third time.

Former Portsmouth resident Kevin Perisi was so touched by Kai’s story that he decided to take on the epic challenge to Glasgow to raise awareness of the condition.

He will begin the walk at the Hard Interchange at 11am and will be accompanied by Portsmouth volunteers and residents and others who have travelled from across the UK.

Kevin has written a song called Beautiful Boy dedicated to Kai, which has topped the iTunes easy listening chart for weeks. It is being re-released on December 18.

All proceeds will go to charities supporting children with cancer.
