A COMMUNITY football club is celebrating after being awarded the coveted FA Charter Standard Award.

Locks Heath Football Club has been given the award which was established by the FA as a benchmark of quality.

It sets standards of coaching, administration and child protection for all clubs outside the Football League and Premier League.

The club, which was formed in 1894, is seeking to expand with both ladies’ and veterans’ football and has more than 70 members as well as 20 volunteers who work tirelessly to ensure the club maintains progression.

Club chairman, Dougie Leask, said ‘The club prides itself in doing things the right way.

‘The Charter Standard is recognition that we, as a club, are on track and have a platform from which we can build and take the club forward.’
