A SPRINGFIELD school pupil has won a competition to design an official version of the London 2012 mascot.

Lauren Linter gave the one-eyed Mandeville a Pompey makeover, covering him in well-known city landmarks as well as an all-important football.

Her design will be made into a London 2012 pin badge.

She said: ‘I designed it this way so it would stand out against the other cities and show off some of the things that make Portsmouth great.

‘My design is colourful and shows a bright seaside city and how much I like it here.’

Lauren, 13, was officially presented with her prize by the Lord Mayor of Portsmouth, Cllr Cheryl Buggy.

Cllr Buggy said: ‘I think Lauren’s design represents our city beautifully, and I’m really pleased to have presented her with the prize.’
