SHE is simply known as ‘the cake lady’ to office workers in Havant.

Every week mum-of-two Iona Jones carries round a basket brimming full of home-made cakes and brings a smile to scores of workers in Havant town centre with her delightful treats.

Kind-hearted Iona, from Emsworth, has now decided to help women and children in need of a boost. She is donating some of her cakes to Havant Women’s Aid, which recently changed its name to Southern Domestic Abuse Service.

Iona, 53, a former tailor who set up Bourne Bakers earlier this year, said: ‘Children need protection and women need protection. This is about putting a smile on their faces.’

Carrie Piddington, from Southern Domestic Abuse Service, said: ‘I think it’s fantastic.’
