THE Green MEP for the south east has met the founder of Wet Wheels in Gunwharf Quays.

Keith Taylor visited Geoff Holt who set up the charity Wet Wheels – a powerboat devised to give the disabled, disadvantaged and elderly people the opportunity to experience the thrills of the waves at speed.

Mr Taylor: ‘It was very interesting and a very worthwhile venture.

‘Part of my work on the European Parliament is on the transport committee.

‘I’m looking at ways to develop transport in the south east region. For many disabled people the opportunities to get out on a boat are very limited.

‘This is a bit of a one-off service.

‘I thought Geoff Holt was an inspiration to people.

‘Disabilities shouldn’t be a barrier to experiencing pleasures of being out on the open waves.’

Geoff, who lives in Shedfield, near Fareham, has been in a wheelchair since a swimming accident in 1984.
