The owner of a Southsea curry house is hoping to be king of the baltis after being shortlisted in a national competition.

Mohammed Abdul Kadir is owner of the Bombay Express Balti House, in Albert Road, and was one of only 30 chefs selected nationally to take part in the 2015 Curry Chef Awards, organised by the Bangladesh Caterers’ Association.

The challenge saw the chefs showcase their skills by creating a signature dish accompanied by rice and a side dish in just 45 minutes.

Mr Kadir said: ‘It’s wonderful to be shortlisted alone, but it would be brilliant to win.’

Winners will be announced on November 22.
