AUSTRALIAN military musicians paid a visit to the Royal Marines School of Music on a visit to the city.

The Australian warship HMAS Anzac arrived in Portsmouth on Thursday for a 10-day visit as part of a world deployment.

Military musicians serving on board held a jazz workshop with the trainees of the Royal Marines School of Music at Portsmouth Naval Base.

Leading Seaman Bruce McIntyre, who plays percussion and has served with the Royal Australian Military Band for 12 years, said: ‘It’s great to be in the UK, and it’s a real pleasure to be here at the Royal Marines School of Music playing with some young trainees just starting out on their careers.

‘We’ve received a really warm welcome and look forward to continuing the close relationship between the Royal Australian Navy Band and the Royal Marines Band Service.’
