OLD furniture will be given a new lease of life as part of a scheme for war veterans.

Havant Borough Council has teamed up with the Company of Makers project to offer free recycling workshops for veterans and their immediate families.

The furniture up-cycling project, funded by the Armed Forces Community Covenant, will be a weekly course held on Wednesday afternoons over six weeks.

Held at the Havant Men’s Shed in Fraser Road, Bedhampton, the course
is aimed at both men and women.

During the course, those taking part will not only be sprucing up old furniture, but will have the chance to socialise.

No experience is needed, just the ability to hold sandpaper and a brush.
