MORE footage of the Spinnaker Tower being struck by lightning during last night’s storm has surfaced.

Portsmouth News reader Daniel Callis filmed this video of lightning hitting the city’s famous landmark during the stormy weather felt around the area overnight.

It follows on from fellow reader Mark Bartlett’s footage of a bolt of lightning striking the tower.

Ellie Stokes, spokeswoman for Spinnaker Tower, explained the structure is hit once or twice a year by lightning, and has lightning conductor rods in its spire to absorb the energy when struck.
