IF YOU know somebody who goes the extra mile for their community then nominate them for recognition in a council award scheme.

Hampshire County Council has launched its annual Good Neighbours awards and wants people to nominate unsung heroes to give them the recognition they deserve.

Now in its 11th year, the awards have already seen nearly 600 people receive appreciation for the good deeds they do.

Council chairman Colin Davidovitz, who is hosting this year’s awards, said: ‘The awards offer an opportunity to pay tribute to neighbours and volunteers who give others that extra bit of help on a regular basis throughout the year.

‘Good deeds go unnoticed far too often. If you would like to say a special thank you to someone who regularly goes that extra mile for you or your community then you should nominate them for a Good Neighbours Award this year.

‘These individuals most likely don’t think twice about the wonderful help they give to others, but they deserve our thanks.’
