THE deadline is looming for nominations to Fareham’s citizen awards.

Nominations to the Citizen of Honour and Young Citizen of the Year categories close on January 31.

The awards recognise community or voluntary service.

The Citizen of Honour category is for people over the age of 18 and there are two Young Citizen of the Year categories – four to 11 years old and 12 to 18 years old.

Fareham Borough Council’s leader, Cllr Sean Woodward, said: ‘The Citizen of Honour awards are the perfect way for the unsung heroes in Fareham to be recognised and celebrated.

‘It could be someone who regularly puts others before themselves, has helped others and the community, or a young person who may have shown an act of bravery.’
