It was won by Christopher Tollet, from Fareham, with a time of 22 minutes and 18 seconds, with Hedge End Running Club’s Paul Toms finishing 10 seconds later.

Setting off from the Mountbatten Centre in Stamshaw, nearly 300 fun-runners called at Hilsea Lido and Lakeside, North Harbour before finishing at the Alexandra Park leisure centre.

After collecting their medals, participants enjoyed beer, bratwurst and live oompah music.

Event organiser Rob Piggott said: ‘It was a brilliant event. We just wanted to do something a bit different, and we wanted an opportunity to drink beer and eat sausages!

‘For a second I thought I was actually in Germany this morning, it was quite surreal.’ The run was organised to coincide with various Oktoberfests around the world.
