A GOLFING duo are preparing to spend the longest day of the year playing the sport.

Tom Soane and friend Simon Passaway are raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support by playing golf from sunrise to sunset in an event on the UK Summer Solstice on Saturday.

The pair have taken on the monster task of completing four and a half rounds of non-stop golf in one day.

They will aim to raise £1,000 for the charity.

The golfing duo are set to start at sunrise and finish at sunset after playing 18 hours of continuous golf at Cams Hall Golf Course without the help of a golf buggy.

Macmillan cared for Simon’s father Eric in 2009 after he was diagnosed with prostate cancer and lost his battle with the disease.

Simon said: ‘Macmillan helped my father enjoy his last few months in comfort and happiness through a very difficult time. Tom and I decided to do this event so we could give something back to Macmillan after all their effort and care.’
