PEOPLE who have contributed to sport in the Havant borough will be honoured at a ceremony.

The Havant Sports Awards will be held at Horizon Leisure Centre, in Civic Centre Road, from 7pm next Thursday .

This year a record number of nominations were received across 16 different categories and officials at Havant Borough Council said the awards will be bigger and better than ever before.

For the 34th time in the borough’s history, the Havant Borough Sports Association will host the Sports Awards to acknowledge the outstanding talent, dedication, sportsmanship and achievement of individuals and clubs in Havant.

This year the awards will be hosted by Andy Moon, BBC Radio Solent sports presenter. The evening will also include an exciting display from global freestyle who are professional football freestylers and an inspirational talk from Paralympic athlete Olivia Breen.

Councillor Yvonne Weeks, who oversees community events in Havant borough, said ‘The Havant Borough Sports Awards are a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the success and dedication of local athletes, sports clubs and volunteers. We are excited to hear from Paralympic athlete Olivia Breen who I am sure will inspire us all.’
