A PIRATES event will take place at the Blue Reef Aquarium this weekend.

The aquarium in Southsea is staging a weekend celebration with live music, fancy dress, treasure trails and competitions tomorrow and Sunday.

Members of the drumming band Batala Portsmouth will be performing at the aquarium tomorrow dressed as pirates.

Visitors will be able to take part in a treasure chest competition, with a chance to win a pirate birthday party.

Blue Reef’s Jenna MacFarlane said: ‘Our pirates’ events are always really popular so we’ve decided to really go for it this time round.

‘We’ve enlisted the help of Batala Portsmouth to entertain visitors on Saturday.’
