A GROUP of Pompey fans have set off on a 300-mile bike ride to Bury.

The Ride to Bury began this morning at Fratton Park, with 20 cyclists heading north for Pompey’s game on Saturday.

Money raised by the bike ride will be split between community shares into the club and for charities that supported four-year-old Jack Robinson who died after suffering from an inoperable brain tumour.

Tom Dearie, who has organised the event, said: ‘Community shares were always an important part of it but raising money to help Jack and his family quickly overtook that and that became our focus.

‘I’m nervous, excited, petrified. I know how sore I’m going to be tonight when we stop but every time I think I’m getting sore I’m going to think of Jack. That will get us all through it to be honest.’
