A SPECIALIST from Portsmouth has joined a panel of clinical experts for Europe’s largest diabetes forum.

Dr Partha Kar, who is a consultant endocrinologist at Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust, has joined diabetes.co.uk’s advisory board.

Diabetes.co.uk, which has more than 180,000 forum members, has created the panel to help ‘bridge the gap between people with diabetes and the clinical community.’

The 10 experts, who have been selected due to their significant contributions to diabetes care, have each been allocated a role relating to their specialism.

Dr Kar said: ‘My role is to explore the effect of digital pathways and education solutions for Type 1 diabetes as well as promoting models of care. I am looking forward to enhancing the role of diabetes.co.uk as Europe’s largest diabetes forum in supporting people to help manage their condition.’

The experts’ input will also include social media question and answer sessions, providing specialist clinical expertise and helping guide the future direction of community health.

Dr Kar was the clinical director of diabetes at Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust between 2009 and 2015.
