HUNDREDS of gallons of delicious apple juice was made to celebrate National Apple Day.

In St Peter’s Square residents, and members of the Emsworth Business Association, spent the entire day pressing apples to make the juice in aid of the Wheely Boat Trust.

Giles Babb, chairman of the business association, said: ‘It was a fantastic day. The community effort really summed up what Emsworth is about.

‘The apple press was a magnificent piece of engineering designed by a resident.

‘We had a queue all day long of people bringing their apples to be pressed. Joe Russell, the St James Primary School pupil who designed the label for the juice, was there all day and got some hands-on experience. Lots of people gave their time for free.’
