PRINCESS Anne will visit Fareham to mark The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The Princess Royal will be at a Freedom March by HMS Collingwood through Fareham town centre on Tuesday, March 20.

She will be met by the mayor of Fareham, Cllr Trevor Cartwright.

While visiting Fareham, The Princess Royal will also officially open the newly upgraded West Street play area to commemorate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

As a ‘Freeman of the Borough’, HMS Collingwood will be exercising its right to march through the town, led by the Royal Marines band.

Cllr Cartwright said: ‘I will be honoured to welcome Her Royal Highness to Fareham for a very special Freedom March to mark The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

‘As the only other British monarch to celebrate a Diamond Jubilee was Queen Victoria in 1897, it is important that we mark the occasion with a very special event which I hope many local people will join with us to celebrate.’
