CHURCHES across Havant are uniting for a play telling the story of Jesus.

People can find out more about Havant’s Passion Play today at open auditions at the United Reformed Church, Elm Lane.

Director James Burke-Dunsmore is looking for local actors to take on the roles of biblical figures in the play which will be held outdoors and staged across the town either in July or August.

Project leader Geoff Paffett said: ‘James will workshop the scenes with our actors and derive a script, just as we were planning for last year.

‘Those workshop sessions will start now and continue until April.

‘Not everyone will have to come to every workshop.

‘It depends on what part they have and which scene James is working on.

‘James will produce a script from the workshops and the cast will meet again from the start of July to polish up their performances.

‘We are seeking an actor to play the role of Jesus.

‘There is also an opportunity for someone to become a theatre director in the role of assistant director to work alongside James during this production.

‘If anyone thinks they could fill either of these roles then they should come along.’

The casting is from 3pm to 5pm. A second event takes place on February 14 at the same venue from 2pm until 5pm.
