SURROUNDED by children’s books, Father Christmas welcomed children to his grotto.

For the second year running Waterlooville Community Forum transformed the town’s library into a winter wonderland.

Children queued to meet the man in red and while they waited they took part in craft activities.

The grotto was opened by Mayor of Havant, Councillor Marjorie Smallcorn.

David Crichton, the chairman of the community forum, said: ‘It went very well indeed.

‘There was a good queue of children to see Father Christmas. We’re very pleased with the initial response and very grateful to the library service for allowing us to be there.

‘It was a wonderful atmosphere.’

The grotto is open every day except Sunday, until Christmas Eve. It is open 2pm until 4pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays and 2pm until 6pm on Thursdays and Fridays.

It is open 1pm until 3pm on Christmas Eve. Entry is £2 and each child is given a present.
