A POMPEY legend has given his support to a group of women running to raise awareness of cancer screening.
Linvoy Primus, Portsmouth Football Club’s ambassador, is supporting Rebecca Nunn and Amy Pollard, who are part of a 20-strong group taking part in the Race for Life in Southsea on Sunday in aid of Cancer Research UK.
They are also running for NHS Portsmouth to raise the profile of breast and cervical cancer screening among the 9,000 women taking part in the event.
Miss Nunn, from Southampton, said: ‘A screening appointment has the potential to save your life which is why it’s so important that we make sure that we do get screened and that we encourage the people we love – mums, sisters and friends, to go to their screening appointments too.’
Cervical cancer screening is for women aged 25 to 64 and breast cancer screening is for 50 to 70-year-olds.
Linvoy said: ‘I’m pleased to lend my support to the girls who are not only passionate about raising money for Cancer Research but also in getting people to talk about cancer screening.’
