A RECORD-breaking yacht has arrived at its new summer home.

The 100ft supermaxi Rambler 100 was greeted by the Lord Mayor of Portsmouth councillor Cheryl Buggy as it arrived at Endeavour Quay in Gosport after smashing the record for the TR2011 Transatlantic Race.

Led by George David, the 21-strong crew crossed the 2,975 nautical miles from Newport, Rhode Island to The Lizard, Cornwall, in six days, 22 hours, eight minutes.

Mr David said: ‘We set a very fast record which will probably not be broken for some time.

Cllr Buggy added: ‘Standing on Rambler in Endeavour Quay is awesome even without its sails up. When they start talking about the speeds they were doing, it’s mind boggling.’
