KEEN cake bakers are being urged to enter their greatest creation into a baking competition.

The Great Portsmouth Bake Off is taking place next month and people thinking of entering are being reminded to express their interest before the deadline on Monday.

Anyone can enter the contest, which will see the winning cake baked and put on the menu at Greens Cafe, in Southsea, for a year.

The contest is the
brainchild of Ed Goodenough, from Canoe Lake Leisure, who was inspired after seeing how popular the TV version was.

The contest will end in a grand final, judged by experts, at Greens Cafe, near to Canoe Lake, on December 19.

Mr Goodenough said excitement was building and that nearly 20 entries had already been submitted since the contest launched last week. He said: ‘It should be a great event, there’s nothing like this locally.’
