A LAST-DITCH plea to be saved helped Stubbington’s Ricky Martin survive tonight’s episode of The Apprentice.

The recruitment team leader was made project manager for a task that involved promoting English wine.

The team decided to create a humorous advert for it – but it was a decision given short shrift by Sir Alan Sugar, who said this undervalued a quality product.

He told Ricky, who is a recruitment team leader for Matchtech: ‘There was a big mistake made here.

‘That was bad project management on this occasion.’

Ricky pleaded to be allowed to stay in the running for the prize, which is an injection of cash from Sir Alan to use for a business. ‘I feel like I am a much stronger person now,’ said Ricky.

‘The business plan I have got is going to make lots of money and I would like to be on that journey with you.’

In the end beauty salon owner Jenna Whittingham was given her marching orders, while her team-mate Stephen Brady was given a reprieve with Ricky.
