Lifeboat volunteers in Portsmouth ‘rescued’ Santa as a treat for their children.

They launched their rescue craft at Eastney to bring Father Christmas to families and friends waiting on the foreshore.

RNLI spokesman Aaron Gent said: ‘Throughout the year the crew are prepared to drop everything and run for the boat.

‘This was their chance to give something back to those they leave behind.’

Santa spent an hour talking to the children and handing out presents.
