PLACES to run on behalf of the British Red Cross for the Great South Run are available.

Money raised by runners will go towards supporting projects in Hampshire, in the UK and abroad.

This year’s 10-mile run takes place on Saturday, October 27.

British Red Cross Hampshire fundraiser Charlie Martin said: ‘Events like the Great South Run are an important source of fundraising for us and will ensure we can continue to support vulnerable people in crisis in the local area and overseas.

‘With the 2012 Olympics coming to London, what better year to embrace the spirit of fitness?

‘It’s motivating to do something that is not only great for your community and supports people around the world, but is also good for your own health.’

Entry to the race costs £40 with a minimum sponsorship target of £150.

If you chose to run for the British Red Cross then you will get a starter kit, including a running vest.
