SCHOOL students held a concert by candlelight in one of the city’s most historic settings.
Portsmouth High School’s music scholars and leavers stunned audiences with a concert held at The Square Tower in Old Portsmouth.
The historic venue played host to the event where an audience of governors, parents, and staff enjoyed pieces from Ella Henderson to Mozart as girls aged 11 to 18 performed the pieces by candlelight.
Sophie Stevens, 18, who sang, Mama Who Bore Me from Spring Awakening by Duncan Sheik, said: ‘This concert was the pinnacle of my time performing at Portsmouth High School.
‘The atmosphere of the Square Tower and the support of the enthusiastic audience made the evening very special.’
Director of music George Tinsley said: ‘It was particularly rewarding to hear such polished performances.
‘Certainly an evening I will always remember.’
