EXCITED young Scouts and Guides made their way to London to catch a glimpse of the happy couple on their way to Westminster Abbey.

Four Scout troops and four Girls Brigade members from the area had a prime view of the newlyweds from their spot in Horse Guards Parade which was exclusively for invited youth groups.

Scouts Katherine Durbin, 24, from Horndean, Beth Durbin, 19, from Waterlooville, Helen Coyte, 24, from Petersfield and Fiona Durrant, 22, from Gosport, made their way to London for the big day. Once there, they were joined in the ground by Girls’ Brigade members Susan Dabbs, 23, from Bedhampton, Alex King, 15, from West Leigh, Kristina Dear, 16, from Park Gate and Sophie Roome, 10, from Fareham.

Both groups were on the couple’s route to and from Westminster Abbey and among the first members of the public allowed to follow behind the procession.

Fiona Durrant said: ‘It felt special to be involved with such a big part of British history – I’ll never forget it.’
