SCORES of people went to battle in the woods – as part of an annual conker competition.
The crowd has a smashing time as around 40 people competed in the Chestnut Challenge at Holly Hill Woodland Park in Sarisbury Green.
It is the 11th year the event has been held and plenty of families and conker fans took part.
Brothers Dave Maurie, 54, and Mike Stares, both 67, dressed up for the occasion, and although they came away empty handed, they had a cracking afternoon.
Dave, of North Boarhunt, said: ‘We have gone along for a few years now.
‘It’s good as it keeps the old tradition going, especially with it being banned in many schools.
‘That’s the nice thing about it – it brings the young and old together.’
The conkers were selected by the Friends of Holly Hill, which managed the event on Saturday.
