WE’VE seen them scaring away crows – but never Barbie dolls!
A wacky straw recreation of Gulliver’s Travels – complete with dozens of dolls on the ground – was one of four winners in Hayling Island’s scarecrow festival.
Hundreds of people have already taken the trail to see which ones they can find.
Havant Councillor Jackie Branson, who was a judge, said: ‘It’s just great fun. Some were very imaginative.’
In the comical category, the winner was A Meer Scarecrow, followed by Scare de Crow and Tea for Two.
Coming first in the topical category was Litter Man, followed by Gis A Job and Retirement Home Wanted.
Gulliver’s Travels won the film and theatre category, followed by Mary Poppins and Gulliver’s Island. In the historical category the winner was Abraham Lincoln, followed by Henry The Eighth and Anthony & Cleopatra.
The People’s Choice award will be voted for by people taking the trail. Trail sheets are available from Hayling Island Bookshop.
