THE sound of Arthur Askey helped cheer up residents at a Southsea care home.
The Home of Comfort nursing home in Southsea hosted a range of entertainment, including an act by Griff Mellhuish, who impersonates the 1940s comic.
Patricia White, who works at the nursing home and organised the party, said: ‘Quite a few of the ladies have passed away recently and they don’t see many new faces because of government cuts so I thought the residents needed cheering up.’
The event was a hit with the home’s residents. Annie Jeffrey, 89, said: ‘It’s very good so far and we’re all still sober.’
Christina Rishman, 88, added: ‘Everyone seemed happy, all eating and drinking and doing what we all enjoy.’
