SHE is the Portsmouth beauty who is hoping to scoop top prize at a national competition.

Poppy McPartland, 15, from Southsea, has made it through to the final of Miss Teen Great Britain on September 30.

The City of Portsmouth Girls’ School pupil progressed from the regional heats and will battle it out with more than 60 other contestants from around the country for the coveted crown in Blackpool.

In winning her regional heat, Poppy was crowned Miss Teen Portsmouth.

Her photos show she oozes confidence in front of the camera – but Poppy’s involvement in appearing in beauty pageants came by chance.

She was on a school visit to the Clothes Show Live event and was spotted by the team at Miss Teen Great Britain.

The 15-year-old said: ‘I was walking around the stalls and they came over to me and asked if they could take some photos.

‘I agreed and gave them my details and they contacted me some weeks later informing me I was in the semi-final of the competition.

‘It was a massive surprise.’

She added: ‘It doesn’t feel like it’s real at the moment.

‘In the future, I would love to be a model in magazines, on billboards and on television. I’m nervous but looking forward to it.’

Her mum Emma said: ‘It was definitely a surprise.’

Poppy will be wearing a dress designed by Deer Hobbes in Osbourne Road, Southsea, on the night of the finals.
