THE family of a young man who died from skin cancer are holding a balloon release to mark one month since his death.

Andy Prowting, 24, lost his battle with the disease last month despite a huge fundraising effort by friends and family to raise £60,000 to send him for potentially life-saving treatment in America.

Mr Prowting had always dreamed of being a police officer but an injury meant that he could not. Instead he was a security guard at Gunwharf Quays and the balloon release will take place there on Saturday, at 2pm, at the base of the Spinnaker Tower.

Andy’s sister Sarah Prowting said: ‘We’re doing it as it will be a month since Andy went to sleep.

‘We’ve chosen Gunwharf because Andy loved working there and all his work colleagues can be involved in it too.

‘We won’t be raising money but we will be wearing our Andy’s Army T-shirts and accessories.

‘Anyone who would like to come along is welcome.’
